Staff phone alerts
The foundation for phone alerts is in place: phones register for notifications per person and facility, alerts are queued and recovered if something fails, and the lock screen only ever says “New care request”. The AskLight staff app — sign-in, request board, claim, start and complete with server confirmation — is in pilot testing.
Guided room setup and phone-based device pairing
Administrators can now create rooms with a guided flow that sets up the facility and unit first, then pair a device from a phone using the device’s setup Wi-Fi and an expiring one-time connection code. Device cards are searchable, work on phone screens, and can be reconnected to a room.
Standalone room device creates its first requests
A standalone Wi-Fi room device based on the ESP32-S3 sent speech directly to AskLight and created requests on the station board — no computer needed in the room. It starts paused, uses a physical button to start and pause listening, and a long-press to ask for help without speaking.
Portal redesigned for busy shifts
The staff portal was redesigned around how a shift actually runs: larger claim and complete controls, clearer columns for Needs review, New, Claimed and In progress, visible overdue and distress-wording badges, and a sidebar that keeps the board one tap away.
First working release: voice requests become tasks
The first end-to-end version of AskLight: a resident’s spoken request is uploaded, understood by AI and turned into a task for the right unit. It includes the station board, a phone-sized staff view, supervisor review for unclear requests, escalation flags, simple reports, and a manual help request that works without audio or AI. Each organisation’s data is kept separate, and repeated uploads never create duplicate tasks.
