Help getting to the bathroom
For nursing homes & long-term care homes
When a resident needs something, the right aide knows what.
AskLight turns a resident's words into a routed task — so care aides bring the water, the blanket or a second pair of hands the first time, and administrators can finally see how long residents wait.

A day on the unit
Where the minutes go.
Most calls on a nursing home unit are everyday needs. AskLight helps with the trips in between.
7:40 a.m. · Day shift
Three lights, one aide
Instead of three walks to find out, the board shows water in 112, a toilet transfer in 214 and a blanket in 108. The aide asks a colleague to help with 214 — and claims it so no one else doubles up.
2:15 p.m. · Family visit
“How long did Mom wait?”
The director of care can look at last week's requests from that room and when each one was claimed — a conversation based on records, not memory.
3:10 a.m. · Night shift
Fewer staff, fewer wasted trips
The night aide's phone buzzes with “New care request”. It's help back into bed in 117 — two people needed. They bring a colleague the first time.
What changes
Built around nursing home realities.
Call light fatigue
Every call looks the same. AskLight tells staff what's needed, so the right person goes with the right thing.
“What do you need?” trips
The request is on the phone before anyone walks in. Fewer round trips to ask, then fetch.
Residents who ask again
Repeated requests are counted on the task, so a resident asking twice is visible — not lost.
Hard-to-understand speech
When speech is unclear, a supervisor reviews it instead of the system guessing.
Response times you can show
Time to claim and open-task age by unit and hour, for quality meetings and family conversations.
Clear ownership
One claim, one owner, visible to everyone. Unclaimed requests escalate to supervisors.
At the nursing station
The whole unit on one screen.
Situations
Made for the hardest parts of the day.
Night shift
Know whether it's water or a two-person transfer before you walk down the hall.

Your call system and your clinical judgement stay.
AskLight is a layer for everyday requests. It works next to the systems and processes you already rely on.
Frequently asked questions
Does AskLight replace our nurse call system?
No. Keep your nurse call system exactly as it is — it's still how emergencies and bedside calls are handled. AskLight adds the resident's words, ownership and response data for everyday requests.
Will this work for residents with dementia or quiet voices?
Some residents will speak clearly; some won't. Anything AskLight isn't sure about goes to a person to review, repeated requests are counted, and the long-press button works without speech. We'll look at how it performs with your residents during a pilot.
What do residents and families need to know?
That the device only listens after the resident presses its button, that audio is deleted after it's processed, and that it's for everyday requests — not emergencies. We provide plain-language material you can share.
How much staff training is needed?
Staff learn three actions: claim, start and complete. Supervisors also learn the review list.
Which kinds of homes is this for?
Nursing homes — called long-term care homes in Canada and skilled nursing facilities in the US — and similar units where residents need help with daily activities.
