Frequently asked questions
Does the device record everything in the room?
No. It starts paused and listens only after the resident presses its button. While started, it sends short clips of speech — not silence — and pausing clears any audio that hasn't been sent.
What does it need to run?
Power and a Wi-Fi connection. There's no computer to install in the room, and nothing for the resident to sign in to.
How is a device added to a room?
An administrator adds the room in AskLight and creates a one-time connection code. On a phone, you join the device's own setup Wi-Fi, enter your facility Wi-Fi details and the code, and the device connects to that room.
Can a device be turned off remotely?
Yes. Administrators can pause, disable or revoke a device from AskLight. Disabling stops uploads and clears any audio waiting to be sent.
Is this the final hardware?
The current device is pilot hardware. Its shape and mounting may change before wider release; how it behaves — paused by default, one button, visible light — will not.
