Staff app & station board

Know who's on it. Every time.

A phone alert for the staff covering the unit. One tap to claim. A shared board at the station so everyone can see what's open, who has it and what's overdue.

On every phone

Built for a busy shift.

Large controls, clear states, and nothing shown as done until it is.

Alerts, even when locked

High-priority notifications reach staff phones covering the unit — without resident details on the lock screen.

One-tap claim

Claim, start and complete. If two people tap at once, only one claim succeeds and everyone sees who.

Server-confirmed

Actions show as done only after the server confirms them. A visible “last updated” time shows when the phone was last in sync.

What the resident said

A short summary and the words that triggered it, so staff bring the right thing the first time.

Shared-phone handover

Sign the next person in at shift change. The previous person's data and alerts are cleared.

Add a request

Log a request a resident mentions in person, so it's tracked like the rest.

At the station

The station board.

One screen for the nursing station: everything open on the unit, grouped by state, with overdue requests and distress wording made impossible to miss.

  • Needs review — AskLight wasn't sure; a person decides
  • New — waiting for someone to claim it
  • Claimed — someone owns it
  • In progress — being handled now

For supervisors

Oversight without chasing people.

Review inbox

Approve, edit or dismiss unclear requests, with every decision recorded.

Escalation

Unclaimed requests are flagged overdue after a configurable time, in the supervisor view.

Reassign, cancel, reopen

Move work between staff, or cancel and reopen with a required reason.

Frequently asked questions

Which phones does the app run on?

The AskLight staff app is built for iPhone and Android and is currently in pilot. The station board runs in any modern web browser.

Will alerts break through silent mode?

No. AskLight uses normal high-priority notifications. During setup we go through the phone settings staff need so alerts are noticeable.

What do staff see on the lock screen?

Only “New care request”. The room, resident and request are shown after the staff member opens the app and is signed in.

What about shared unit phones?

At handover, the next person signs in. The previous person's tasks are cleared from the phone and alerts go to whoever is signed in.

Does receiving an alert mean I've accepted the request?

No. An alert means you can see it. You own a request only when you tap Claim and the server confirms it.
