Call light

The light and tone, usually above a resident's door and at the nursing station, that signals a resident has pressed their call bell.

A call light (or call bell, or nurse call) is the standard way a nursing home resident signals for help. Pressing a button or pulling a cord turns on a light outside the room and alerts the nursing station.

Call lights are simple and dependable, which is why they remain essential — especially for emergencies. Their limitation is that they only say someone needs help, not what is needed or who is responding.
